Musings of Chellie: Taking A Break

I shall be taking a break from now until December 31, 2008. Life is hectic right now and so I'll need time to sort things out and relax. Until next year! :-)

Introduction

Alright I decided on Friday, June 27, 2008 that I want to start a blog. My life is pretty ummm hectic at times and I would like to record it. Here’s a heavy dose of how my life can be at times… On June 26, 2008, I had my 6 weeks postpartum checkup (after I gave birth to my second child Elijah) and my doctor, Dr. Alice Lin, wanted a CBC and glucose blood tests ran on me. I called the next day to get my lab results. My hemoglobin was 8.0 and my hematocrit was 21.9. For women, the average hemoglobin is 12 and hematocit is 35. Yes I am way below the average. Why are my blood levels so low you may ask? Well, I was born with a blood condition called hereditary spherocytosis. It causes anemia, enlarged spleen and jaundice. Now onward to my husband and our sons’ medical conditions… My husband Christopher has ventricular tachycardia. Our oldest child Michael was born with an unilateral right cleft lip and palate. Our second child Elijah had an "innocent" heart murmur which healed as he became older. We are one happy family huh? Actually we are. The love is so strong and I am grateful for that but what an opening eh?
