Relaxing Friday

Just another Friday. Enjoying my day. As you can see, I am not putting much here. I kept thinking that today was Saturday for some weird reason, oh well. Have a great weekend all!

August 29, 2008 Blog Prompt: Here in the US, it is nearing the end of summer so tell some ways you tried to beat the heat this summer. If you are in places where it is nearing the end of winter, tell how you plan to beat the heat in the summer.
If you have been reading my blog, you would it has been in the 100+ degrees. Yes, I live in California but not all of California gets this hot. My way of beating the heat? Air condition, fans, cooler showers and my son Michael likes playing with the water hose.

Cooing

Today Elijah was cooing much more. Yeah my little baby is definitely growing up. He’s 3 months now; soon he’ll be 3 years! Tomorrow Christopher gets off work at 12 noon and he’s off on Labor Day. He wants to go to this greasy spoon called Hazel’s which he claims has great burgers. I told him I was game. So tomorrow I shall go and test this place out. I am in the mood for some good fries.

August 28, 2008 Blog Prompt: Today is Just Because Day. What will you do today just because?
Let my brother make me breakfast. He made Belgian waffles and they were good too!

YAY! For Air Condition

This how weather is atrocious! Usually at a certain time, it gets cooler. Not today. It has been in the 100+ all week. I am so happy I have air condition.

August 27, 2008 Blog Prompt: Yesterday was Women’s Equality Day. Do you think women are equal? Why or why not?
Oh man this is a very controversial subject for me. I do not think women are equal. Granted it is worse in other countries than in USA but still. I feel that women are not treated equal due to things that many of us have witnessed. One example is the subject of women versus men regarding employment. Yes this has been done to death but the actions are still happening. Qualified women getting looked over for promotions and given to men just because of her gender. I don’t condone this but no wonder some women sleep their way to the top. This is just one subject I am pointing out for there are many others.

Hot Weather

We had a good church service tonight. Just this hot weather is horrible.

August 26, 2008 Blog Prompt: Yesterday was Kiss and Make Up Day. Describe an argument you had with someone and how you resolved the problem.
Ewww, I hate arguments. I had gotten into an argument with my mother and even though I told her I wasn’t upset with her but at the situation, it didn’t make anything better. I had to let things cool down and then I went and apologize even though I wasn’t at fault.

It's Monday!

As you may have read, Christopher my husband started his new job today. He’s excited of course. He called earlier to give me a “rundown” of what has happened so far on the job. Once again, I am just happy for him. My brothers have job interviews tomorrow morning.

August 25, 2008 Blog Prompt: Today is Valentino Day. Describe a romantic evening that you would love to have tonight.
Alright let’s see. Have my family watch my sons. Go to a wonderful Italian restaurant for dinner and eat a succulent seafood pasta dish complimented with the softest garlic bread, the freshest salad and a mouth-watering dessert like an apple crisp complete with vanilla ice cream. Have a violinist play something soft and soothing while we eat. Afterwards, go for a nice stroll at the pier or the park. Then spend the night at a nice hotel with room service. Wake up the next morning and want to do the day/night all over again!

Hubby's New Job

Christopher starts his new job tomorrow so all of his late nights are over! *does a witchy evil laugh* Well, maybe I shouldn’t laugh, it also means me waking up fixing breakfast and lunch for him. AAAH! He was helping me with our sons and now, it’ll mainly be me. My family helps but it’s my responsibility. Oh well, I am just happy for him.

Planning For Michael's 3rd Birthday

Today Michael is 2 years and 7 months old. It’s amazing how we parents keep up with the monthly birthdays as well as the yearly ones. I am already planning his 3rd birthday party including the layout I want to create. Since he likes cars and things of the like, I am going to do either Thomas the Tank Engine, Disney’s Pixar Cars or some other transportation theme. He also likes Elmo so maybe I’ll do that, just don’t know. I want to get him an ice cream cake this year. I would probably go to Cold Stone Creamery or Baskin Robbins. Carvel is another choice. In the meantime, I am going to enjoy the little and big things he does.

August 22, 2008 Blog Prompt: Today is Be an Angel Day. What is something nice you plan to do for someone else today?
I didn’t plan anything actually. I usually just deal with giving on a day to day basis.

Stages In Children's Lives

Elijah is really smiling and cooing a lot lately. My youngest bother says the stage he like is when the children are walking and talking. Personally I like all the stages, the good ones. I don’t like the temper tantrum stage or the “Terrible Twos” stage. When your child is learning to hold his/her head up, learning to turn over, learning to sit up, learning to stand up by using tables and whatnot, those are the stages I like.

August 21, 2008 Blog Prompt: Tomorrow is Tooth Fairy Day. How do you think the tooth fairy has changed since you were little?
I never really believed in the Tooth Fairy but I do know others who did and I compare that to the children now. For one thing, the “payment” for a tooth is higher. Another thing, children can’t wait to lose another tooth.

He Got The Job!

Another lay back day. It wasn’t as hot either. Matter of fact, it was cooler. The day was very breezy. Christopher got the call back and was offered the position. Of course he accepted. He starts work on Monday.

August 20, 2008 Blog Prompt: How has this change in the economy affected you?
It has somewhat hindered my husband from getting a job that he actually went to school for. Gas is just ridiculous. I mean it’s just under $4/gallon now but this is still too high. I remember when gas was $2/gallon, others have told me when gas was cheaper than that. I feel for the homeowners who are now renters because they lost their homes. Foreclosures sucks but just like any other opportunist, people have and are making money off of foreclosures. I can’t say I blame them though. Times are hard for everyone.

Job Interview, Take 2

Today after the 2nd job interview, Christopher, I and the children went to see an old friend named James who came down from Seattle, Washington. We ate at Mimi’s CafĂ© and the food was delicious as usual. It was Christopher and James’ first time eating at this particular restaurant and I am happy we all enjoyed ourselves.

August 19, 2008 Blog Prompt: Tell about the worse movies you have ever seen.
Oh God! I don’t mean this but some of these directors/writers/producers/actors need to be shot! Shot with reality. There is one movie called “Miss B’s Beauty Shop/Salon”. *shakes her head* The actors were horrendous. You know how in a documentary the person’s name and title is displayed at the bottom, like a caption? Well, this is what they did in this “movie” and it wasn’t a documentary. Luckily I didn’t watch the whole movie. Unfortunately, it was the most wasted 20 minutes of my life. They had the token homosexual male, token Latino female, token African Americans and then threw in a Middle Eastern female. First off, not all hair salons have homosexuals so where did this concept come from? Second, not all African Americans or Latinos work in hair salons. Third, did I mention someone needs to be shot?

Job Interview, Take 1

Christopher went to a job interview today and the supervisor there was impressed. There’s an opening in the city where we lived and he wanted to send Christopher there to see another representative about the job. He has an appointment tomorrow.

August 18, 2008 Blog Prompt: Tell five things you would buy with your last $20 and why.
Hmmm… I would either go to Jack n the Box or McDonald’s and buy something from their dollar menu because I like their foods. I would go to Target or Wal-Mart and buy some travel hygiene products, reason being, budgeting.

Building A Website

I am thinking about starting up my website. It’s not my website per se but a website I started of my church and beloved bishop. Right now I just have the setup right now. I am still looking for titles for the website and I am such an anal person about how I want everything to be. It’s a lot of work with this coding but I feel it’s worth it. My husband wants me to take classes on XML and I want a drag and drop web design program.

Relaxation

Just another Friday, hanging out and relaxing. I am also looking at the scrapbooking setups I have for Michael, Elijah and my wedding. I need more money to buy scrapbooking products and then I will get back to my much loved hobby. Christopher and I decided what we wanted to do for our 2nd wedding anniversary. We are not going to renew our vows but more like “redo” our wedding day without the “I do” part. It’s pretty much will be a day of taking pictures, dressing up in our wedding colors and getting another wedding cake. Maybe go to a classy restaurant.

August 15, 2008 Blog Prompt: Today is National Relaxation Day. How do you plan to relax today?
Oh this is funny because before I read today’s prompt, I was doing just that: relaxing.

A Big Decision

Another hot day but oh well. Come September, temperature will die down. Everyone at home are just lying around, trying to stay cool. I plan on taking a cool, not cold shower later on. There is some business that I have to take care but the procrastination is astounding. Hopefully by the end of this month, I can get all that squared away. I have big things on my mind. My husband has considered us moving back to Washington but I really don’t want to. There are pros and cons with this decision but I am happy he’s not pressuring me but there’s a timeline. If the cons outweigh the pros I could easily say no but that’s not the case here. There half and half so I have to figure for myself with my husband if the pros are worth it.

August 14, 2008 Blog Prompt:
Today is Best Friends Day. Who is your best friend and tell why?
Jesus Christ and the reason why is because He’s dependable, trustworthy, reliable, honest and He has a great sense of humor. Now there is my husband Christopher and my mother. Christopher was my friend before he became my husband. I can talk with him about practically anything, he also makes me laugh. My mother is a great friend because she’s so caring, an unselfish person, and understands me.

Children Learning New Things

Nothing much today, just watching my sons learn new things, like Elijah sucking his thumb and Michael asking “why?” to everything. Remember the day you just couldn’t wait for your children to begin walking and talking? How do you feel now?

August 13, 2008 Blog Prompt: Today is National Underwear Day. Years ago there were never underwear commercials in the media but now there are. How do you feel about this?
The commercials that are “family friendly” are alright with me. Now the exotic ones seem to just sell sex. Pretty much Victoria’s Secret is provocative but then again look at the products. I don’t really have a huge view about the underwear commercials. Now if you want to talk about underwear ads, that’s a whole different topic.

Terrific Tuesday

Ahhh another Tuesday. It’s still hot but tolerable. The husband, children and I are suppose to go out and get some much needed items for the household. Other than these, we are pretty much just relaxing as much as we can.

August 12, 2008 Blog Prompt: Today is Sewing Machine Day. If you could sew, what is something you would love to make or if you already sew, what was your favorite thing you made. Describe it.
I can sew but I am not an expert. I can sew up holes in clothing and put on buttons. This is all manually. I can’t do anything on a sewing machine. My mother owns an electronic/computerized one and it’s nice. She can sew really well but her mother, my grandmother is the great one. Wow that woman makes her own patterns. My sister Felicia took sewing classes and now she’s good with a sewing machine. I am thinking of going to a class or two to learn as well. Now what I would love to make are clothes, whether it’s men, women or children. Also quilts.

Business

Today was “catch up on business” day. I am still looking for telecommuting clerical positions and my husband is looking for computer work. It’ll get better, just waiting.

August 11, 2008 Blog Prompt: August 9th was National Garage Sale Day. What item in your home would you just love to get rid of and why?
Hmmm… I don’t want to get rid of anything per se. I mainly want to remodel.

A Decent Dinner

Today was church service and once again very hot. The family had a decent dinner and it was quite delicious. I am happy my mother brought me and my siblings up on various types of vegetables so that now we can appreciate them and not become too picky.

Catching Up

I have been busy lately hence the gap in dates. So, I am just going to tell a simplified version of this week’s events. Pretty much it has been hot and I as well as others have been in this lazy mode. My mother caught a cold from a co-worker and she took Monday and Tuesday of from work. Her days or rather nights off are Wednesdays and Thursdays. She said she may take Friday off as well. Elijah had his well baby checkup on the 6th. He’s 2 ½ months old now. He weighs 10.3 pounds, 22 ½ inches long and his head circumference is 38 cm. His pediatrician said his nose is “shorten” which probably explains his narrow nostrils situation. I noticed his extra small nose at birth. His great grandma Hasme said her right nostril is narrow as well. My, my genetics goes a long way huh? Elijah is smiling much more now and also noticing more of his hand. Christopher and I really want to get him a swing as well as an infant “deluxe gym”, see example: http://www.fisher-price.com/fp.aspx?st=2341&e=detail&pid=38182&pcat=rainforest (copy and paste the link). The one I want comes with the Boppy headrest. I feel this is best since he likes his regular Boppy. My sister Felicia and I have been craving a lot of sweets and drinking a lot of water, so my mother is concern that we may have diabetes. I plan on having the sugar level in my blood checked out. I don’t know what my sister plans on doing. Michael is talking more and this is a big thing since he was born with a unilateral right cleft lip and palate. He had one surgery to close his lip but he needs a second surgery to shape his right nostril and cosmetically fix his lip, also a third surgery to close the gap in his palate. We have an appointment on September 24th to discuss all of this. Yesterday, my mother-in-law participated in church service via web cam. We have church service at home every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. She said she enjoyed it, wants to join us for our next service and she even cried. I am happy for her; just not too long ago she got baptized in Jesus’ name so all of this is a big step for her. My brothers and hubby are on the job searching hunt and I hope they get what’s best for them. Well, my sons are asleep and Christopher has requested my presence. I shall bid you adieu.

August 1, 2008 Blog Prompt: Today is Respect for Parents Day. How were you taught respect when you were growing up?
Do not talk back was one thing my parents instilled into me and my siblings. The thing is, once you can see your parents sacrificing for you, the respect can just slip in there. It did for me. My mother taught my siblings and I that respect was earned. My father felt respect should just be there. Hmmm…

August 2-3, 2008 Blog Prompt: Just let us know what you feel like posting.
Just read the above.

August 4, 2008 Blog Prompt: Today is National Chocolate Chip Day. Describe your favorite chocolate chip food.
You mean besides chocolate chip cookies? I really like chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. Since late 2006, early 2007, my family and I have not had chocolate. Instead we eat a chocolate alternative called carob. It tastes just like chocolate, at least to me. There’s a grocery store nearby that sells carob chips and I can buy carob powder online.

August 5, 2008 Blog Prompt: This week is Simplify Your Life Week. What are some ways that you could simplify your life?
Go to a spa and get the ultimate full treatment. Hey I have two young boys and a husband. Also, somehow obtain more money.

August 6, 2008 Blog Prompt: Today is National Fresh Breath Day. If you had to work closely with someone with bad breath for a few months, how would you handle the situation?
I would offer breath mints and also to try not to offend, I would pop a mint in my mouth as well. I constantly have Icebreakers Cool Mints.

August 7, 2008 Blog Prompt: Today is Professional Speaker’s Day. If you were in charge of a meeting, who would you invite to the speaker and why? Have a Terrific Thursday!
If I was in charge of a meeting, I would invite Hillary Clinton because she moves me. Other women and men also may feel the same way. When I listen to her, I am prone to pay attention. Also she is humorous as well.

August 8, 2008 Blog Prompt: Today is the first day of the Olympics in China. What is your favorite and least favorite event in the Olympics?
My favorite has always been the gymnastics and everything else falls after.
